The plan for auditions for Aloha Theatre’s June production of The Laramie Project has been revised.

The dates and times announced for the auditions on Monday and Tuesday, are still correct, but the auditions will not be in-person at the theater in Kainaliu. Candidates for the cast of four men and four women are invited to submit video auditions during the same timeframe.

Each video audition should begin with a personal introduction lasting no more than one minute. If the candidate wishes to share any information in addition to the actual audition, that information should come right after the introduction. Examples might be reasons for wanting to do the show, feelings about the script or the issues the script covers, or roles the candidate may be specifically interested in.

The candidate should then present their monologues, which should consist of three contrasting mini monologues to exhibit acting range, since each actor will play multiple roles. Each monologue should be about a minute in length, and should include the title of the source material and its author. Memorization is not required. The monologues can be from The Laramie Project or from any other source. Examples of possible monologues from the script are available in a separate posting on the website’s audition page.

Videos should be no more than five minutes in length and must be submitted with a completed audition form to laramie@alohatheatre.com no later than 8 p.m. on Tuesday.

Callbacks, if any, will be conducted via video on Thursday, April 9; instructions will be provided after review of all video submissions.

The Laramie Project will be the final directing project by artistic director Jerry Tracy, and he hopes for a diverse, versatile cast.
